A Mid Century Modern striking red and black West Germany Pottery “Lora” vase by Scheurich, circa 1960s.

The vase is decorated with a particularly good example and most easily regognizable patterns of the “Lora” decor.

The glaze consists of a shiny red under layer, which has been overlaid with thick, pitted, volcanic black and white glaze, typically ‘Fat Lava’ in style. This glaze has then been scraped away in vertical lines, revealing the red underneath it. The effect is very dramatic.
